Logis not fixed, heavies not fixed, hmg's not fixed, spawn system not fixed, hit detection not fixed (despite your claims) , medical system none of the suggested improvements added, stability worse than before, dropships worse than before the list goes on. Maybe you should focus on the things the community asks for and fix/buff/add/nerf those things first BEFORE adding all of these shiny new features that don't always work.
I also have a question. What kind of testing do you do before releasing these builds? Do you play the build all day to test the features before giving it to us? Do you test it at all? I don't want this to sound like a complaint thread but lots of things don't work. For example the laser rifle is my main weapon this build. I like using it but I am easily killed by anyone else. Assault rifle users will quite often kill you much faster than your laser rifle will kill them. I don't stand a chance against heavies because my gun overheats before I can kill them.
Discuss what you liked or disliked about this new build. Please don't spam or say "Z0MG U NUB! U JUS DONT HAVE TEH SKILLZ! " because that is just a waste of a post telling me something I already know :) Numbero uno: This was not a patch to fix things (although that happened, too), but to introduce new features. New features always introduce new bugs, there is no way around that.
B: What kind of testing are they doing? Are you seriously asking that question? Do you know, what you are doing here? Yes, exactly. You and we are doing the testing. That's the idea of a beta. We play it, we report bugs we find, they can fix it, hopefully. This is not a finished product.
If they did this differently, you would not play the game right now. They would test it internally and you would see it, when it's eventually released. Also, they can't fix all problems, before they introduce new features. These new features will bring new problems and have to be tested, too. The thing you do (if you are an intelligent being) is test a given number of features until you have gathered enough data (where 'enough' is a subjective term), fix some of them during the same time, and then roll out the new features to have them tested. If you wait for all problems to be fixed before introducing the new features, you are wasting time on testing things that are already tested sufficiently (again, subjective).
In essence: CCP is doing it correctly. Your point is invalid. |

In essence: CCP is doing it correctly. Your point is invalid. You are right that we should be testing this. I cannot deny that. My question was a genuine one. I wanted to know how much testing CCP does when they add new features to see how balanced they are. That is all I meant. You also said that this is a beta. We find bugs, give feedback etc. What I was trying to say is that so many good ideas have been suggested yet CCP rarely implements them or give us an indication of whether they are considering an idea. People have been complaining and whining about some things for ages and yet CCP has done nothing about their plans or told us why they can't or won't do Anything about it. Sometimes they just make things worse. Look at dropships for example. The height barrier forces them to fly lower which means they die easier. If we really are beta testers would it kill CCP to bounce ideas off of us, the people actually playing the game? To say "hey guys what do you think is the best way to solve this issue?" In my opinion they don't do it often enough which is why so many things don't work the way they intended. This is the point I was trying to make. Sorry if I didn't explain myself well enough and I apologise if I offended you.
I'm not easily offended, so no worries.
The thing is, we are testers, not developers or even publishers. We 'work' for them and they are not accountable to us. They don't have to tell us their plans or have to implement our wishes. They do what they think is best for their game, and we give them feedback. Many of the new implemented features will surely see an overhaul in the coming days, weeks or months. You can't expect perfect features during this testing phase. We testers essentially try to assure, that the game is as good as it gets, when it finally launches. They have to try different things, and then should listen to our feedback and react accordingly, if they want the game to succeed. But it is still their game, not ours, and they decide what they want to try and in what order.
To your dropship example: there had to be something done to them. People used them to fly snipers on top of the highest buildings, which was not too bad actually, they had a good view, but at the same time could be sniped just as easily, but then they landed their dropship on the same building and nuked the map with their rocket launchers, more or less save from harm. The height limit will prevent that, but is surely not the most elegant way to go about it. I personally would just have disabled the dropship's weapons, when it is landed, but that might also not be the best solution. Someone will always complain. We will see, what the future brings. |
